THE EPIC TALE OF MEDIEVAL HORROR DRIVING BOOKTOK WILD
‘A beautiful nightmare that grips you from start to finish’ VICTORIA AVEYARD
This edition includes a critical foreword from bestselling author Joe Hill

The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village.
An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm-that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict.
Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon. There, she tells Thomas, she will fulfil her mission: to confront the evil that has devastated the earth, and to restore to this betrayed, murderous knight the nobility and hope of salvation he long abandoned.
As hell unleashes its wrath, and as the true nature of the girl is revealed, Thomas will find himself on a macabre battleground of angels and demons, saints, and the risen dead, and in the midst of a desperate struggle for nothing less than the soul of man.

An extraordinary horror novel: Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehleman. A disgraced knight, a girl who sees angels, and an alcoholic priest cross a France ravaged by the Black Death and overrun by quite literal devils. Breathlessly paced and fiercely cinematic, it's just a classic
A masterful tale about the redemption and hope that can be found even amongst true horror . . . Buehlman is a master of horror as well as fantasy
The Road meets Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in this frightful medieval epic . . . [Buehlman is] an author to watch
A harrowing, haunting, heartfelt journey into darkness . . .
A beautiful nightmare that grips you from start to finish
Rich in detail, with a vivid setting, compelling characters, and several fantastically executed creepy scenarios, Between Two Fires is an absolute masterpiece
Simply an incredible novel
This is a novel that can be enjoyed by fans of historical fiction, horror, and fantasy. It's a dark, dank, depressing and dreadful experience, yet one so thoroughly riveting, visceral and, ultimately, hopeful. I can't recommend this enough!
This beautifully grotesque accounting of an epic journey rivals those of The Odyssey and The Lord of the Rings
